Why accounts are for people 16 and older
One age line, everywhere. We ask your birth month and year once, never store them, and never guess. Younger people take part through a parent.
An account on Beyond My Time is for someone 16 or older. We chose one line that clears the consent age in every place we serve, for a place that holds other people's photos and the hardest chapters of a life.
How we ask
Once, when you sign up: your birth month and year. Nothing finer, and the question never names the line. The answer is done on your device; what we keep is only that you answered and were old enough. We never store your birth date.
If you signed in with Google or Apple, or had an account before the question existed, you're asked the first time you come back.
If you're under 16
You're not shut out — you're just not the account holder. You can be a person on a page, with your photos and your name; a parent can keep a page about you and give you your own profile under their wing; memories can be added from you, in your name; letters can be addressed to you. What we don't do
No ID checks, no face-age guessing, no card checks. They'd be expensive, privacy-hostile and wrong for a place like this. What the rules ask — draw a line, ask neutrally, keep nothing from those refused, act the moment you know — is what we do.
