Naming people in photos
Anyone on the page can name who's in a photo. Names, not accounts — and the person named can always remove a tag of themselves.
Open a photo and choose Who's in this?. Pick a name from the page's people or type a new one, and say who they are to the person if you know — his sister, a colleague at the plant. The person the page is about is always the first row — This is Paul — never "a new person"; every photo of them goes to that one entry, and Photos of Paul gathers them.
While you're still writing
You don't have to wait for the memory to be saved: under each photo or video in the form there's the same Who's in this?. With two or more, Same people in all of them names every one in one go — then take a name off any single photo with its ×. Names stay with the photo they're on, so Photos of Maria and the quiet word to the person named work exactly as they do for a tag added later. If you keep the memory to yourself for now, the names wait with it and reach the page when the memory does.
- Tags are names, not accounts. Many of the people in old photos never had one.
- If the name belongs to someone with an account on the page, they're told quietly. See You were named in a memory.
- The person named can always remove a tag of themselves. No manager can stop that.
- There is no face recognition and no face regions — a tag is a name on a photo, nothing more.
On a living person's page, naming someone new who isn't yet in Family & friends may wait for a manager's review before it appears.
