What happens when you invite someone

From the page — the Invite button beside Add to the page — or from Settings → People, a manager can invite someone to share a memory. Say who it's for — Aunt Rose — and, if you like, their email address and a note.

What they get

A link. If you gave an email address we send it for you; you can always copy the link and send it yourself. The email says who invited them and to which page — your note waits on the page the link opens, not in the email, so nothing anyone types is ever sent under our name. Opening the link shows them the page as a visitor would see it, with your note. Accepting makes them a contributor: they can add memories, photos, sayings and notes, always under their own name.

What an invitation does not do

• It doesn't give them the keys. Contributors can't change the page's details, privacy or people — see Who can do what.
• It doesn't make them public. Their contributions follow the page's privacy and their own switch.
• A link with no name is a group link, for a family chat — anyone who opens it can join, so share it with care. A named link is for that person.

Housekeeping

Invitations last thirty days. Under Settings you see whether each was opened and whether they joined, can send it again, or revoke it. An invitation only stands as long as the person who sent it: if they leave the page or are removed from it, every link they sent stops working at once. If a wave of strangers came onto the page through one person's links, Settings → Privacy → Access → Joined through invitations lists who brought whom in the last thirty days, and one act removes and blocks all of them and withdraws that person's open invitations — the person themself you remove from the Contributors list as usual.
