When a letter opens, and who can read it then
On a chosen day; when the person it's for says the day has come; or after the writer's time, when the page is marked Remembered. Only the people it's for can read it.
A letter opens in one of three ways, chosen when it's sealed:
| On a day | A date — June 14, 2031. It opens that day, wherever in the world the reader is. |

| For a milestone | Your wedding day, your graduation. The person it's for decides when the day has come and opens it themselves: It's time — open it. Once opened it stays open. |
| After the writer's time | Opens when the page is marked Remembered. Only the person a page is about can seal a letter this way, on their own page — the app never guesses about anyone else's death. |
Once it's open
Only the people the letter is for can read it, and they see it on the page and on their bell. The writer can always read what they sealed. Others on the page see that a letter exists and who it was for — not its words.
If the person it's for was removed from the page, the writer is asked to choose again who it's for.
Letters and accounts
A sealed letter goes with its writer if they delete their account; an opened one stays, without its writer's account behind it.
