He had all four of them out in the backyard at 7am planting tomatoes, and not one of them complained. He'd hand each of them a seedling and say, "This one is yours. It's counting on you." My daughter still has her tomato plant in a pot on her balcony, six years later.

Thirty years, same church

Mom wanted a quiet dinner. Dad booked the parish hall, the same one, and invited everyone who was there the first time — plus everyone who wasn't. He danced with her to the same song and told the car story again, and she laughed like she'd never heard it. Ninety dollars and a borrowed car, thirty years later.
